I worked as an ACMA at Arbor House of Mustang from 2018 to 2024. During that time, I gained meaningful clinical experience and built strong connections with many residents. Those relationships are something I’ll always value. I also had the privilege of working under a nurse who truly invested in me and helped shape my skills and confidence. For that, I’m sincerely grateful. However, once Legends took over, it became clear the work environment was shifting, and not in a positive direction. Despite years of experience and dedication, my raise under the new management was just 49 cents. Not even a full dollar. For a company of that size, it was disappointing to feel that level of effort wasn’t worth one more penny. Holiday gestures like frozen turkeys or a small Christmas bonus were kind, but they didn’t match the day-to-day demands or the commitment many of us gave. What was most difficult was receiving training module reminders just two days after giving birth. In a field that requires compassion, I expected more grace and understanding. Instead, it felt like a reminder that personal life didn’t factor into corporate timelines. In the end, I made the decision to leave so I could grow in a setting that offered more opportunity and support. While this role was an important part of my journey, it wasn’t sustainable long term. I hope in the future, more attention is given to staff appreciation and retention because the residents deserve consistency and the team deserves to be valued.
