ArchCare at Ferncliff

The teams at Archcare cared about their patients. As a nurse I was never so humbled with the beautiful people I took care of and as always our incredibly team.

My mother has been a patient in the Thompson House Rehabilitation Center at Ferncliff since early April, after falling at home and breaking her hip. She also suffers from multiple sclerosis, dementia, balance problems, chronic fatigue . . . the poor woman is a wreck. How is it possible to help a person in this state? What can be done? If I were a medical professional, I’d take one look at her chart and run as fast as I could in the other direction. The people who work at Ferncliff have done the very opposite. They are extraordinary: the doctors, nurses, aides, physical therapists, administrators—everyone is doing their best to heal my mother, to keep her safe, and clean, and fed. They are extremely busy. They have many other people’s mothers and fathers and husbands and wives to tend to. Under these and other challenging conditions, the wonderful people at Ferncliff do a tremendous job. They put up with my mother’s sass, too—no small feat. I hate that my mom has to be in a nursing home, but she does. I can’t imagine a place that would do a better job of taking care of her. I am so grateful to everyone there. Thank you!

I am writing this 5 Star review with gratitude for the experience my sister, Alice Steffens has had and , I’m sure, will continue to have in her Center for Advanced Memory Care in Archcare at Ferncliff in Rhinebeck, New York. We, her family, are so grateful for the professional, caring manner in which she is treated on a daily basis. From the first day my sister arrived she has received the best of care, both medical care from the professional nursing staff and personal care from her well trained care team and activity directors who are trained in Montessori living. I have taught Spanish in a Montessori School for a number of years and have observed many of the activities that Alice has experienced here. Her activities and the approach with which the Care Team presents those activities exemplify the spirit and compassion of Montessori living. Alice feels as if she is in her home. When I speak of her life in the Advanced Memory Care center at Ferncliff to my friends and family, I lovingly refer to it as “ Alice’s 5 Star Resort”. Archcare at Ferncliff certainly merits its Gold Star Credential Status from from the Center for Applied Research in Dementia. Congratulations and thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
