At first Artis seemed to be the perfect place for my dad. As time went on I found the staff to be uncaring, spending most of their time with each other and not with the residence. I came in to see my dad about an hour after lunch. Not only was he in his room with door closed but he had an ice cold lunch tray sitting untouched. He needs help to cut his food and eat, when I questioned the staff they said he was asleep so they just left it. He could have been dead in the room and nobody would have noticed. Now I feel like I have to go in for meals just to make sure he eats. We thought that assisted living meant just that. He needs assistance and nobody in that facility cares enough.
