I don’t normally leave negative reviews, but I feel it’s important to share my experience because it raised serious concerns about how this establishment treats people. A week after replacing two blown tires, I had another blowout right in front of this facility on Ashland. It was a frightening situation, heavy traffic, I’m not from the area, and the flat was on the driver’s side, making it unsafe to attempt a roadside change. The nearest option for me was to carefully pull into their parking lot, which was nearly empty at the time and remained that way throughout this experience. Shaken and unsure of what to do, I sat in my car for a while trying to arrange help. I spoke with a very kind and understanding staff member who suggested I leave a note with my name and phone number, which I did. Unfortunately, when I went back inside later to make sure everything was understood, I was met by another staff member who treated me with surprising rudeness and impatience. Despite explaining my situation and that I was waiting on assistance, she told me I had been there “too long” and insisted I move my car, even though it was unsafe to drive on a completely flat tire. Mind you, this is at 10pm. What disturbed me most, however, was what happened next. As I attempted to leave the building, the door was locked behind me. The alarm sounded, and despite my asking her calmly to open the door, she refused at first and raised her voice at me. I began to panic. Being locked inside against your will in an unfamiliar place is a terrifying experience. I eventually had to yell for her to unlock the door, which she finally did while continuing to berate me. Because she forced me to move my car, and there was no longer space on the road, I had no choice but to drive it to a Shell station up the road. In doing so, the tire rolled off the rim. What could have been a simple fix turned into my car needing to be towed and being without it for days. I understand safety protocols are in place for residents, but locking someone inside and refusing to let them out is unacceptable under any circumstances. What began as a stressful car emergency turned into a deeply unsettling encounter that left me questioning the compassion and professionalism of this facility. If this is how a staff member treats a stranger in distress, I worry about how vulnerable residents might be treated behind closed doors. Basic human decency should never be optional.

I cannot fathom a worse senior living establishment. They charge premium prices but EVERYTHING - the horrible building layout, the terrible unhealthy processed food, the soulless activities, and worst the uncaring staff and management - is done in a cost cutting/profit maximizing manner. Easily the worst piece is the terrible management who will turn adversarial at the slightest effort to advocate for your loved one. My father deteriorated rapidly upon being placed here, and I feel as if this place played a significant role in accelerating his functional and mental decline. They would be doing humanity a big service by just closing so no other good decent people get their lives destroyed. Zero/negative stars for you Artis Lakeview.

This is a five star retirement home! My grandfather was recently put in this retirement home, and he loved it! They have lots of security, making sure the place is secure, and they also have a yard outside, perfect for the ones who want to go outside and take a walk. They also have dining rooms for family to eat with the one they are visiting and have a chat. The staff are very nice, and so are the elderly that live there. This place is amazing, and has basically everything you need at all times.
