My parent had to go into Memory care. The Sayville Bristal is understaffed for this dept. We were advised several times to get an outside aide bc of the requirements of my parent, who was not difficult other than the flight risk. They did nothing to ease this transition. They expected us to pay 10k plus a private aide which would be at least another 6k. We had numerous "meetings" with 5 dif supervisors to figure out how to help my parent, with the flight risk. They immediately suggest additional drugs to subdue my parent. They continued to lose them almost everyday bc it is not a locked down facility. We were advised that they were unaware of the flight risk, when it was written all over the paperwork & discussed prior to arrival. When we arrived for visits, the staff was difficult to understand, always sitting next to each other talking, not paying attention to the residents. I witnessed residents falling asleep in their plates of food. The outside courtyard attached to the Memory care was never used. The supervisor had to explain to the staff how to open the doors to said court. It was all overgrown & we were the 1st ppl to ever go out there. Speaking of staff, we also witnessed first hand them being mean to my parent. To which they were more upset about being caught then again taking care of the situation. So many issues I could go on. We pulled them out in one month. I'd given negative stars if google would allow it.
