08/30/2025 - The night my brother passed away is something I will never forget, and unfortunately, Nurse Darelyn’s actions (and lack of compassion) made that night even worse for me and my family. My sisters and I visit my brother throughout that day. I arrived at 6pm - He was breathing very heavily, two Caucasian nurses were in his room, a man and a woman. The man was putting a pic in his arm and the woman was waiting to x-ray his arms to make sure everything was properly done., The male came around, and when he was finished with the IV to pulled him up so the X-ray board could be placed in the back of him. X-ray completed the nurse was concerned about my brother's temperature, his sweating, and his fever. Nurse Irene came in and said she had given him Tylenol twice to keep his fever down. -( Irene was another nurse who didn't want to do her job 08-21-25 My brother was lying in bed full of feces and she wouldn't change him until 30 minutes later. Every CNA was gone and I didn't see one) When I called to check on my brother, she ( Darelyn)admitted his breathing was heavy but said she wasn’t going to “deal with this the weekend, she told me he would be sent to the hospital “before midnight,” as if his care could just wait until it was convenient. I even asked her directly, “You’re a nurse, what did you think you would be doing—working with ICU patients or in a nursing home?” and she responded, “It’s not like I can’t, but I won’t do it this weekend.” That statement shocked me. A nurse is supposed to provide care and compassion, not decide when someone is or isn’t worth the effort. My mother also called that night, and Darleyn told her the same thing in a rude tone of voice, which left my mother in tears. Instead of showing empathy, she coldly told my mother that she’d have to get in touch with his doctor. Then, she stopped answering the phone altogether. When my sister finally got in touch with her, she told Nurse Darelyn that she had made our mother cry, and still, there was no compassion or understanding from her. That night at 11 pm she called my mother saying his breathing was better and he was sleeping peacefully. A little after 3 am, I started receiving calls, that my brother was coding ” they were doing CPR” and they called his death after 3am. My sister went straight there while they were coding and the nurses asked who let her in, she wasn't supposed to be in there. She left to get our mom, who doesn't drive, and lives 10 minutes away from the nursing home. She arrived, and the corners were already there, they wouldn't let my mom see her son( hurtful feeling) Families place their trust in nurses to advocate for and care for their loved ones. On that night, I felt my brother was dismissed, neglected, and not treated with the urgency he needed. The lack of compassion, the rude communication, and the unwillingness to act in his best interest are things I will never forget. My family and I are left grieving not only his loss but also the way we were treated in those weeks and final hours. I didn’t want my brother there to start with, but it was the only nursing home available that accepted a tract and a feeding tube. My brother's funeral is tomorrow and they still haven't called to give us their condolences. No family should ever be made to feel this way. Please, don't send your loved ones here

This place is absolutely HORRIBLE! Every time we went to see my brother he was full of poop. The nurses/nurses aides were rude with absolutely NO BEDSIDE MANNER. My family did not want to move my brother here from the hospital but it was the only place available due to his condition. He was there for almost two weeks before developing MRSA & pneumonia. He died a couple days after starting a new round of antibiotics. I read the negative reviews from people who were in similar situations as my family but I never thought that my brother would be one of the ones to die, like so many others, after only a couple of weeks at this horrible facility. To top it all off, when I arrived at the nursing home & found out my brother had passed away, his nurse told me & my husband “it is, what it is”. What kind of comment is that to make to a grieving family member? Capitol House needs to either retrain their staff OR give them a script to read when informing a family member that their loved one has died. Please, if you love your family member, DO NOT SEND THEM TO THIS PLACE! 💔
