My father was recently a patient following major surgery and, unfortunately, the experience was far below our expectations in many respects. While a few of the nurses were genuinely skilled and compassionate, the overall nursing care for his new ostomy was severely lacking. His bag leaked multiple times, sometimes multiple times per day, indicating a widespread lack of proper training for this critical aspect of his care. For a patient recovering from major surgery, this significantly impacted his recovery and created unnecessary stress. In stark contrast, the support and assistance we received from the physical therapy (PT) and occupational therapy (OT) team was excellent. They were professional, attentive, and made a huge difference in his recovery. It is worth noting that this was an outsourced service. Communication from the administration was also extremely poor. Arriving on Labor Day weekend, we were left in the dark for four full days before anyone met with us to provide basic information about his care plan and what to expect. This left my Father feeling completely isolated and uninformed. The communication breakdown continued with his discharge. We were only given two days' notice that he was going home. To make matters worse, he was sent home before his essential medical equipment had arrived. We had to rely on borrowing a cane from a friend to provide him with basic mobility, as my 85-year-old mother is not able to offer much physical assistance herself.

Besides the beauty and delicious meals of Linville Courts, the people, whether they are staff, therapists, or other members, are so welcoming and friendly. The therapists here were able to accommodate me and all my issues. They geared my program directly for me and my special needs. I was able to blossom and fully recover in this positive environment. Even though I am leaving shortly, I plan on coming back to finish my out patient therapy here. The new Care Services Administrator Zach Wood has positively improved all parts of Care Services completely. It is a great place to recover with such a serene and peaceful environment.
