My parent has lived in the community for the past 3 years. 2 years at Park (Assisted Living) and 1 year at Pavilion (Memory Care). I would like to clarify that the majority of med techs, caregivers and front desk staff have been wonderful. The leadership, however, has been in a constant state of flux, with Pavillion Memory Care going on its sixth director in just over one year. The egregious turnover has has left my family feeling extremely uneasy about the management of our loved one’s care. I have reached out to leadership multiple times in the past year to discuss these frustrations. Unfortunately, it’s always with a new face, making the same promises as the last. I will update this review if/when meaningful changes occur. Update 10/2023: I met with CMT’s Executive Director a couple of weeks ago. She was very open about the challenges she & her team inherited as the old management company departed earlier this year. I appreciated her transparency & her compassion. I’m hopeful that this new leadership team is qualified and motivated to resolve the staffing issues and rebuild trust with residents and their families. Moving a loved one into memory care is an incredibly scary and difficult thing to do. Despite my frustrations and uneasiness over the past year, I still believe CMT Pavilion is a good choice for those in need of a local Memory Care facility. Just be aware, they are still working out a few kinks. Update: 9/24/2025 Since my last edit, the Pavilion memory care building at CMT has gone through 3 more new directors. This means that a total of 9 different directors have been in charge of the management of our parent’s care in just 3 years. It’s been disorienting to say the least. Each time leadership changes, a significant turnover in the care staff follows. We had hoped things would improve under MBK’s management but unfortunately the turnover of leadership & staff, in addition to a persistent lack of communication by leadership, continues. As for staffing in the Pavilion building, there is currently no activities director. The previous (wonderful!) activities director recently left (he was the 4th or 5th AD at Pavilion in 3 years). Leadership has not communicated this loss of essential staff to families. Nor have they communicated how the activities will be facilitated while they are seeking his replacement. Not knowing, I can only assume the care staff, who are already overloaded and underpaid, are being tasked with covering these programs. Although we believe our loved one is safe at CMT, we no longer trust MBK’s ability to facilitate the management of our loved one’s care or retain essential staff. We are now looking to other options for care facilities in Portland.

I had been looking at many different places for my mom who suffers from Alzheimer's. What stood out to me about Courtyard was Riley, who was so patient, intelligent, and kind -- and she accommodated all the times we wanted to tour different parts of the facility and sometimes with different members of the family. I talked with a couple of the residents there (I believe they were in assisted living) who said they were happy. The apartments in independent and assisted living were also really nice, and compared to some of the other facilities in the area I felt like the price was right. The facility is also a good size -- not super small, but also not gigantic, which I really liked. My mom did not end up moving in there just yet so I can't speak to what her experience of living there would be like, but I really enjoyed the staff and so much that I saw about the facility. Thank you again to the staff that went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and at ease about potentially moving my mom into care, as well as helping us find the most appropriate solution for her.
