When my mom broke her pelvis we asked to come to this facility, because 15 years ago, it was known to be good. What a mistake. I worry for all the people there with no family member to advocate for them now. We were there 4 weeks before moving our mom. I wish I had moved her sooner. My mom lost drastic weight while here. She was constantly confused, tired and listless. This facility is clearly under staffed. They don’t seem to have protocols or standards for cleanliness. I found used medical gloves regularly cast aside on our mom’s test table or window sill. I changed her linens when an aide was going to return her to soiled sheets. They use temp agency help so daily no one knew our mom and/or her needs. Important messages from a care meeting never were shared with Director of nursing. There was a rat/mouse outdoor trap in the main hall where everyone walked. The menu request for both my mom and her room mate were ignored. Her room mate couldn’t eat pork or chicken but twice while I was there she was served those items and not offered an alternative. My mom couldn’t keep awake. The dir of nursing said he thought ‘she’d given up!’ We moved her to another facility. She has been there 3 weeks, they got her off all drugs (now she is awake and eating), they caught the blood clots the other place overlooked, and she is walking and now cleared for independent living again. If this review seems harsh, it should! I worry about others that are there with no one caring looking out for them. I sent a letter of my grievances to the mariemont care facility and they never responded. All of these things happened and more. I feel compelled to share so others can choose a better equipped facility for their loved ones.
