Gandy Post-Acute Care Center brings together skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and daily living support in South Tampa, offering a full spectrum of medical and personal care for seniors. The facility operates around the clock, with a team that includes occupational and physical therapists, and provides both private and shared accommodations. While some residents and families praise the physical therapy staff and note moments of attentive care, experiences with nursing and support staff vary widely. The community’s location puts it close to hospitals, pharmacies, and local dining, adding convenience for families. Amenities like meal service, housekeeping, and scheduled activities aim to make daily life easier, though cleanliness and staff responsiveness are recurring concerns in reviews. Families should expect a mixed experience, with standout therapy services but inconsistent day-to-day care.

[Long review]: If I could give less than 1 star I would. The only saving grace to this place are the Physical Therapists. They were very caring, empathic, and patient with my mother, who was sent there for rehabilitation after a week long hospital admission due to a hip fracture. However, the majority of the nurses and CNAs I came across - not so much. My mother was there for 11 days in April and in those 11 days, I saw a facility that did not care for its residents/patients and a facility that was not very clean. I understand that these facilities are overcrowded, underfunded, and understaffed but hiring employees with soft skills should be a top priority, as well as a dedicated cleaning crew - especially in a facility with incontinent seniors! It is very difficult to teach compassion and patience, and I saw the lack of that in the majority of the staff - especially the night nurses. I was with my mom every day during her stay at Gandy, and every day I brought my own cleaning supplies, mainly for the bathroom. Unless you have a private room (which they explained to me was only for patients/residents who did not get along with others or who had a communicable disease), then it was 1 bathroom to every 4 people (plus their guests). And the bathrooms smelled disgusting, usually with urine on the floor or around the toilet seat. Except for the lobby and the bathroom in the front, which was used by visitors and employees. That bathroom and the lobby was always clean and smelled nice....because of course first impressions are important. Thankfully, after only a couple of days, my mom started getting stronger and we needed help from the nurses/assistants less and less (again, thanks to the Physical Therapists!). But in the first few days, whenever I pressed the button for help, the majority of the time we waited over 5 minutes for someone to come to the room. At one point I timed the wait and it was 10 minutes - 10 minutes for a 78 year old woman with a hip fracture to wait for someone to come and help her to the bathroom. That is completely unacceptable. Any time I tried to find someone to ask them for something, they seemed annoyed. I hope to never have to bring my mom to this facility (or any place like it) again. If you are thinking of bringing your loved one to Gandy because you have no other choice, please ensure you are with them every day because otherwise, your family member will not receive the care they need or deserve.

This is an excellent place. The staff treats you like family. The therapists ate top notch. I was there two months and I was at several places. Felt cared for and they noticed details that matter when it comes to your health. Therapists are very good and know a lot. They go above and beyond. I felt like family
