Auburn Nebraska
I notice that all of the 5 star reviews are 5+ years ago. Apparently a lot has changed. My mom was there for just over 3 years and recently passed away. I had multiple complaints over the years and got little or no cooperation from Administration, Nursing or Social Services to resolve issues. The issues I felt needed dealt with: 1) Mom’s room not being clean. I kept a broom/dustpan and a Swifter mop in the closet so I could clean her floors. Toilet was often not cleaned for days at a time. 2) Meat being served not fully cooked when a certain cook was working who didn’t manage his time well. 3) There were times other than break times when there was only one aide covering 2 wings 4) Mom’s hand was broken when a lift was being used to take her to the bathroom. I discovered this when I came in on a Monday afternoon. It was obviously not a new injury. There was no documentation as to when or how it happened and no reference was put in her chart until Thursday of that week. I’m not sure how they got around the mandatory reporting requirement to APS. 5) Mom’s HIPPA protected information was shared without a signed release when I met with 2 Hospice providers to decide which one to go with. 6) An LPN Charge Nurse refused to comply with a physician’s order. The weekend before mom passed away she was unable to rouse enough to swallow. Good Sam staff continued to attempt to feed her even after she coughed, choked and eventually vomited. When this was reported to the Hospice LPN when she arrived she contacted the PA who gave a phone order for mom to be NPO. The Good Sam Charge Nurse told her she refused to do this. The Hospice LPN argued until she was afraid she would be kicked out of the facility (her words) and then contacted me. It took my brother calling on the phone twice and heatedly speaking to this Charge Nurse and me doing the same twice in person before she conceded to follow the Physician's order.
