Modified Strength Training for Seniors: Benefits and Tips What Is Strength Training? Strength or resistance training involves moving your muscles against an outside force. This force is typically a weight or a stretch band. The added resistance encourages muscle growth. As we age, our bodies lose muscle mass. This can start as early as 30 but increases every decade. Individuals with chronic diseases or who have reduced physical activity may lose muscle mass more quickly. Fortunately, strength training can stimulate muscle growth and reverse muscle loss. You can begin strength training at any age and level of fitness, and the exercises can be modified to match your skills.

What Is a QR Code, and How Do You Use One? Learn how to access information from a QR code, and discover the benefits and risks of this latest advancement. Development of the QR Code We’re all familiar with the ordinary barcode, a system of upright lines in varying widths. Barcodes relay information in a scannable format — for example, the grocery store scanner that picks up inventory and pricing information by reading the product barcode. In 1994, an employee at a Japanese automotive plant devised the square-shaped QR code, also known as a two-dimensional matrix barcode. Its grid-like pattern of shapes can store more information and is easier to read from any angle. The original QR code was used by manufacturing businesses but quickly became a valuable tool for multiple industries. QR codes experienced slow but steady growth until COVID-19, when their use as a touchless way to distribute information attracted widespread attention.

Air Fryer Convenience: Ideas for Senior Snacks and Meals Why Seniors Love Air Fryers Many older adults with arthritis or mobility issues find traditional cooking methods tiring or risky because reaching into hot ovens and lifting heavy pans can lead to burns and strain. Air fryers reduce that risk while providing a satisfying way to cook tasty meals with push-button convenience. Fast cook times don't hurt either — most recipes take only 15 to 20 minutes, sometimes even less. No greasy splatter and fewer dishes make cleaning up quick and easy, and you can cook smaller portions without wasting food. Best of all, you get a crisp texture using less oil, so the food you make tastes better and has fewer calories.
