Lighthouse Senior Living at Hopkins Creek

We placed mom in the memory care (MC) unit at the Lighhouse Senior Living at Hopkins Creek facility. She was there for almost two months when I got a call one evening to tell me they sent mom to the ER, I was met with multiple people on the other end on a speaker phone. There was no compassion, concern, or understanding. Instead I was met with distrust, anger, accusations that we are “working against us, and not with us” and whether she, an Alzheimer’s patient, was going to call the local TV (WBAL-TV news) station, or whether or not “I believed” that someone hit my mother. My mother was not allowed to return. We had to scramble to find another facility for mom before her release from the hospital. This was over the Christmas holidays. It was a trying time for my family. Further, there are little to no activities to engage those in the memory care unit. The other unit for assisted living (AL) did have activities. During the ‘sales process,’ we were promised that those residents in the memory care unit would participate in the AL resident activities. It rarely happened and then it was for just one or two of the MC residents. The attitude of caregivers was unacceptable. They lacked compassion or concern. The culture of the staff was an “us against them” attitude. It’s funny that we were accused of the same. Any concerns that we raised as a family was met with ‘we are the professionals. We will handle it. Her (mom’s) behavior is all part of the transition. Let us handle it.” Never again. It was a very difficult time for us as a family as you can imagine. After this experience, we have been educated: trust your instincts. Ask many questions. And most importantly look at the current residents to see if they are happy. Instead many if not most stood by the door begging to leave. This is not normal. We are fortunate because we found a new place. I am very limited in space for this review. Otherwise I would leave a longer review.

Great atmosphere, very clean, friendly employees, especially Malinda and Crystal.

I would not recommend taking your family members here at all. They are very unsanitary, and dirty as you can see from the pictures. The mangers are so disrespectful and discussing, they all have nasty attitudes they don’t not like the residents they say it their selfs. Tammy fleming has a nasty attitude she does not listen to the staff nor the residents. Amber harding is a professional liar, she will lie on you about anything to get you fired. The food here makes all the residents sick, the staff and management comes to work high and drunk. Amber harding gets smart with the residents all the time the residents will tell you their selfs. They do not care for the residents here at all they disrespect them be mean, makes them cry all the time. it’s to the point where one of the residents don’t sit in the dining room because they are always being mean to her and makes her cry everyday. they have bugs as you can see in the pictures, the residents are getting bit by spiders. when the staff report to the nurses about the residents they are supposed to document and they don’t because they don’t care. when it comes to a resident being sick they don’t care, they just say leave them in their rooms. when the residents fall or gets sick they don’t care enough to send them out until they are close to death. Amber harding is not a good activist manger she do not engage with the residents in memory care for their activities. The residents will report things that are important to them to Tammy fleming and she will look pass is and not care about what they are saying she gets smart with them all the time. light house has poor management they don’t care about the staff, their maintenance manger tells the staff members they can go in empty rooms and sleep if they would like to. Corporate does not care they have a lot of laws suit coming their way. Your family members will not be safe here, they are letting the resident die from them being sick because of the food. Theres a resident there that calls corporate all the time and they either don’t answer her or doesn’t not care enough to do anything about anything she says.All of the mangers are racist they don’t like black people. they target the people they don’t like and they team up to get them fired. They don’t pay enough for employees to go through what they are going through there. This is not a good place to have your family members staying in because they are so nasty n don’t care about them.
