Marquis Mt. Tabor

A lifelong friend of mine was sent to @Marquis Mt. Tabor to recover and rehab after partial hip replacement surgery in July 2024. Sadly, this was the beginning of the end for my friend. She came to Marquis with a beautiful, clean, surgical incision following hip replacement surgery. After a short time at Marquis, the incision presented with redness, pain, and swelling, which she told all of her medical and care staff right away and continued to tell them. They did nothing until it became a weeping infection. They then treated her with oral antibiotics for a full week without first swabbing the infection to test for what bacteria or virus was present. During this time, they did not notify the surgeon of the infection. One day that week they had completely run out of the oral medication, so my friend went an entire day without antibiotics, which can allow an infection to colonize and will often lead to a superinfection. When the surgeon was finally notified, the surgeon ordered that she be placed on IV antibiotics immediately and continue for approximately 7 weeks to treat the MRSA infection she now had. The MRSA was introduced to her surgical site while she was under the care of Marquis Mt. Tabor. She was diabetic and should have been placed on IV antibiotics as the first line of defense! I brought lunch one day, and my friend spilled a little sparkling water on her bedding. I reached for a towel that was on the wheelchair next to her bed to wipe up the spill, and as I picked up the bath towel, I saw it was covered in blood and MRSA-infection fluid. I'll post a few pictures. Another time I was visiting, she had been incontinent for a while from being so weakened by the infection. When I sat down I looked between my chair and her bed and saw the floor was covered in dried diarrhea that no one had bothered to clean up. Her call light consistently went unanswered, sometimes for an hour or more. She was so fed up with no one coming to help that one day she got up and made her way to the bathroom by herself. She was considered a major fall risk and was supposed to have help getting to the bathroom, but after waiting so long she felt she had no choice but to walk to the bathroom unassisted. While in the bathroom, she fell and fractured her pelvis and femur. After that she could no longer stand or walk at all. This was followed by another night of her call light being unanswered. She was incontinent and left to sit in her own feces for 45 minutes when she had a stage 4 bedsore that they had left untreated and undressed. It's a miracle she didn't get sepsis. Another day I went to see her, she had been left alone in a dark room, moaning in pain. There was no water anywhere in the room for her to drink, just an empty glass by her bed, and her urine bag was full. I could go on and on. And I might post a follow up. I personally witnessed nurses not following infectious-disease protocol they were specifically told to follow while administering her IV antibiotics. I observed firsthand that Marquis Mt. Tabor has a toxic work culture, and the staff – from the medical staff, administration, and care staff – show blatant disregard for the lives of their patients. I implore you to look for another facility for yourself or your loved one. What I've written here is just a fraction of what this hellhole did to my friend. In fact, when we moved her out of Marquis, she had a stage 4 bedsore, which in and of itself is proof of neglect and can be considered abusive. The staff is rude and lazy. They know they won't be investigated, and they can get away with this behavior. The handful of gems that work there can't make up for the hateful and cruel behavior from the majority of the staff, including the manager, Lisa. My friend suffered the entire time (approximately 4 months) she was at Marquis Mt. Tabor. Thankfully, we were eventually able to move her to a beautiful adult foster home where she could be surrounded with love and receive the care and dignity she deserved.

My husband only stayed three and a half hours before I had enough of their willful incompetence and brought him home. From refusing to observe safety protocols necessary for his neurological condition to pretending that it’s okay not to offer water or a trip to the restroom in three hours to stating flat out that they absolutely could not follow the cardiac surgeon’s directions it started completely underwhelming and proceeded to terrifying. Don’t believe their admissions and marketing nonsense. This place is dangerous. They sure do know how to intimidate a person who wants to leave, however. They can passive aggressively play childish games all the way to the door while stating that there is absolutely no way they can weigh someone daily. Completely messed up priorities
