When selecting a place for senior living, you need to decide what's now important to you: the look of the facility or safety. Oak Point is definitely a nice facility, and they talk the talk. Unfortunately, they are severely lacking in basic communication, medication safely, and common sense. I don't recommend this place to anyone.
Darci Byrd
This facility has a reputation for making medication errors. In our personal experience, many medication errors that have sent the residents to the ER. The staff, upper management included, does not behave in a way that instills trust. They do not have policies or standard work in place to ensure safety, especially when it comes to medication management. They have purposely (they verbally admitted it) given medications at the wrong times. They have stopped medications that the resident has talked for years, leading to severe withdrawal symptoms. They fail to dispose of extra medications, including controlled substances. I do not recommend this place to anyone who takes medications, especially if residing in memory care and cannot speak up for themselves when medications are wrong, missing, mistimed, etc. They are horrible with communication all around, between staff members, between staff and family, and between staff and EMS. When trying to reach out with concerns, they are slow to respond. Then when you do speak with someone, they act concerned and present a plan to be better. We have NEVER seen positive change as a result of these discussions. They continue making the same mistakes.

They do not take care of the patients in memory care very well. These patients need more help because they cannot take care of themselves. They don't know how to critically think about medications. They don't question obvious issues, and just follow tasks on a paper. Maybe the assisted living is better, but memory care is awful.
