Working at the nursing home was a horrific experience. After I addressed an issue in a meeting, everyone turned against me. I faced retaliation from two PCAs after reporting a patient being double-briefed. They claimed I was lying and told me nobody wanted to work with me because I was a "snitch." The hostile work environment was unbearable. Patients were often left unattended, sitting in soiled clothes for hours without proper care. I witnessed a PCA refuse to feed a resident who couldn't feed herself. If I hadn't intervened, the resident would have gone without food. On the facility's anniversary celebration day, one patient was taken out to eat, but the remaining residents were forgotten and didn't receive dinner until 8 PM. When staff brought this to management's attention, we were told to figure out a solution ourselves. Management's carelessness and lack of accountability enabled the problems. Staff would eat residents' food and drink their sodas, then lie about it. Residents often wore clothes that weren't theirs, and staff would take essentials from one resident's room to give to another. I witnessed unsafe practices, such as using the Hoyer lift with one PCA instead of two. Staff would also use facility laundry facilities to wash their personal clothes and shower in resident rooms. A PCA once reacted unprofessionally to a resident's aggression, yelling and flinching in their face. The final straw was when a new hire shared negative rumors about me. Feeling uncomfortable and unsupported, I decided to resign.

The day to day staff was great with my mother when she lived there. The staff was over worked and they did not have enough staff to properly care. Very sad because the staff is so great and not taken care of by management. When management was contacted numerous times we had no response and changes were not made. Different management is needed from the top down.

Moving in was the best thing we could have done. Mona and I love it. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. All the residents are happy and friendly here. Erin was our tour guide and to this day is our fountain of information. I say fountain because of her bubbly personality. I would recommend Oakleaf Village to everyone. The food is pretty darn good too. The interior decor is very nice as well as the landscaping. Come on out and see for yourself. A beautiful place.
