My father was a resident at Parkland Memory Care for more than a year, and placing him there was the best decision I made for his care. The staff treated him with dignity and respect, and consistently gave him excellent care. I know from experience with both my parents how difficult it is to choose a care facility, but when it comes to Parkland, you can be confident your loved one will be in very good hands.

Update: My father celebrated his 100th birthday 4 months ago at Parkland! They threw him a great party and we included everyone who has been part of his life there for the last 5 years. He had cake, balloons, and lots of presents to open (my favorite: I'm 18 with 82 years experience). A few days ago my father passed. It truly was peaceful and I had all the support I could wish for from Aleca hospice as well as the staff and nurses at Parkland. I was at his side for days, able to talk to him and make sure he was comfortable. I have been able to be 100% a daughter to him while Parkland handled the caregiving, which would have just been too much for me to handle. They truly loved him. Thank you, Parkland. Original Post: 3 years ago my father was discharged from the hospital after emergency surgery. His previous memory care facility said they could not provide the extra care he needed. The hospital care coordinator recommended Parkland, which could provide the extra care, and within a few days my dad was moved in and recovering. He's still doing well and is happy, at age 98! The staff at Parkland are the most caring people I've met in any of his 3 previous homes. He likes them because they treat him with dignity, provide things to do and therapy dogs to pet, and give him plenty of the food he likes. I like them because they keep me informed of everything via phone calls, emails, and face-to-face meetings. It just feels happy there. I visit often and am welcomed every time. One time I happened to be there during a fire drill, when they moved the west side residents to the east side, and one of the talented residents just sat at the piano and started playing cheerful tunes. That was the most cheerful fire drill I've ever witnessed! I highly recommend Parkland. When I leave town, I never worry. Whether Dad is having a grumpy day or a good one, I know he is surrounded by professionals who truly care about him.

3 months ago I opted to move my mother to Parkland Memory Care even though the assisted living facility she was at had an impressive memory care unit. Through experience I have come to believe that staff turnover is highly correlated to quality and consistency of care. As I searched I was looking for an intimate and clean setting with low staff turnover as an indicator that the staff were happy in their job and therefore capable of providing consistent high quality care. Many, if not most at Parkland have been there 5-6 years. It was no contest. Parkland is a great facility, built specifically for memory care patients. What truly impresses, though, is the caring, attentive nature of the staff...and I mean everyone from the executive director to the caregivers!! They actively engage the residents and are kind, attentive and respectful. I am so happy I made the choice to take her to Parkland. She recently passed but loved her time there, especially loved the staff and the residents. If you have choice, you need to look at Parkland first. Incredible!
