Our family had two very different experiences with this assisted living during my mom’s assessments. The first time, my mom was having a bad day, anxious and upset, and Alexis Smith, the assessor, clearly formed a strong negative impression. We tried again with a different staff member, and the second visit went much better — my mom was calm, cooperative, and we were hopeful. Despite that, Alexis (not the person who did the second assessment) later called to say it would be “clinically inappropriate” to admit my mom because she “surpassed the care level,” was on a high dose of behavioral management medication, and was “too young.” The irony is that this medication is exactly what helps keep her anxiety under control— as shown during the second visit. It’s frustrating that the decision seemed based more on one bad day than on her actual, current condition. Other assisted livings are willing and able to meet her needs; families deserve a fair, unbiased evaluation, not one colored by a single first impression.

I moved my Mom to Parkway a month and a half ago to be closer to me. I see her very frequently and she tells me at least once everytime I see her how much she likes it there. She says that EVERYONE is soooo nice, I can't tell you how happy that makes me her daughter to know that she is well cared for and I don't have to worry. She raves about the food from chef Chad, she loves EVERY meal, that speaks volumes! Alexia and her team are all on the same page, they really love their residents and it shows...a big thank you to ALL of the attendants, she always says how caring and kind you are! Thank you to the ENTIRE staff!!
