While in California, visiting my 93-year-old best friend, she asked me to do a tour with her son of Silverado Calabasas. I never expected it to be anything but depressing. I was pleasantly surprised by every aspect of the tour. We were greeted by Shannon Mann, who was also our tour guide. We were genuinely impressed with both the facility and Shannon's knowledge of Alzheimer's & Dementia Care. The community felt like a peaceful resort in the Calabasas foothills. I was amazed by how open and spacious it is. The outdoor spaces were just stunning, and the entire property had a serene, retreat-like vibe. The energy there was lively and heartwarming. Residents were engaged in meaningful activities and looked happy, connected, and well cared for. The team was attentive and clearly on top of every detail. I especially loved seeing the community pets roaming around, bringing comfort and companionship to all. Children were there interacting with the residents (of course, well-behaved)! It was such a beautiful thing to witness. This is not what I had in mind when I was told I would be touring a memory care facility. I am impressed. Well worth my time. I told my friend, this is the highest quality of care I have seen to date.
