Update: As of 7/14/25 The elevator is down again “for the week”. Which leaves meals to be delivered to those who can’t make it to the dining room. They’re also charging them for their meal deliveries due to this outage… I can understand if the residents wanted seminary and the elevator wasn’t down, but the facility made the elevator unavailable. Why are the residents paying?? That doesn’t make sense at all. The even bigger concern is this is again a fire hazard for those who can’t walk without a mobility device. Also house keeping hasn’t been consistent and my mom hasn’t had it for the last two weeks. The rent includes the amenities such as the house keeping… why are they not pro-rating the rent if that’s what’s supposed to be included? If they’re not included, stop making them pay the full price… The poor quality and disorganization that others have noted in other reviews is 100% accurate. There has been so many changes in staffing and how they operate. It’s all very disappointing. The elevator has been broken multiple times and not fixed for weeks on end when it does happen. Which is not only an issue for those with mobility concerns, but it’s also a fire hazard. When the elevator is down the meals get delivered. However, the food by the time it gets to them is/was always cold or not cooked all the way. The food quality is also not great either. The house keeping schedule changes almost every month or so. - if not more often. They can’t keep their housekeepers because some of them at one point were also used to serve in the dining room. Therefore rooms aren’t able to be cleaned thoroughly. For residents who can’t do all of the necessary cleaning, that is a huge issue in regard to hygiene. The dining room schedule also keeps changing which poses an another issue. In addition to that, if residents can’t make it to a meal and have it ordered to their room, they’re now being CHARGED for it. - completely unacceptable for people who are paying $3,000 or more a month when meals are supposed to be included regardless of how they prefer to sit and eat them. The audacity to charge for things like that are so petty. I heavily disagree with this practice because working with an older population, you may have people who may not be able to cook for themselves or may have had an incident, hospital stay or dexterity issues where they can’t make it down to the dining room, and they have the nerve to charge them for it. They’ve also limited the food options and are controlling what they can and can’t have. If meals are included who are they to tell them what they can eat? The change in management needs to step it up as this building has seen numerous residents moving out within the last 3-6 months. Which I’m sure is why they’re nickel and diming everything. However the gap that they’re suffering from due to the move outs shouldn’t be on the residents to make up the difference for. I’m sure they wonder why they have people moving their family members out of there, but it seems they are the ones in their own way and refuse or don’t care to see that. What was once a decent place, it has turned completely upside down in a matter of months.

The only Favorable Reviews are OLD ONES as Solstice is NOW SOLD OUT TO A DIFFERENT MANAGEMENT CORPORATION since it has been steadily going downhill in quality since the new Executive Director came in last November. The Kitchen has no Chef, Daily overcooked vegetables provide -0- Nutrition, The Daily Menu is changed to suit a Cook (who, for example, only would serve Scrambled Eggs as other eggs were too time-consuming to make), Only ONE ELEVATOR is at this 3-story facility and has been broken down TWICE in the past two months for WEEKS AT A TIME, The Staff Personnel are underpaid & turnover is out of control ! The Capper is the Monthly Rent Increase of 8% is in place to be increased by 8% again for the next anniversary billings. A Complete Lack of Adequate Management Skill is causing this once-vital Senior Housing Facility to go from Top-notch to Marginal at best. The Executive Director's Office & Activities Personnel are Excellent in all they do, but appear to be hamstrung by their Supervisor. In General: The Ambience at Solstice is no longer Positive & Responsive either to Residents or to the Personnel. These are all reasons of my moving out as of 03/01/2025, along with over 28 OTHER RESIDENTS are either gone or have served notice to Solstice. As of 03-30-2025, the same inept "Cook" has been kept as the Lead Cook, a position of witch she is not qualified. But ... Solstice is sure saving $$$$$ by having her & having her take On Line Instruction on American Cooking, I guess!!! Residents are still flocking away from this once-great Senior Living Center. Solstice Upper Management should act soon as "IT'S TOO LATE TO SHUT THE BARN DOOR IF ALL THE HORSES HAVE ALREADY RAN OUT!!". I spent 59 years in successfully operating businesses in management and sales for major corporations yet I cannot explain why Solstice is allowing incompetent personnel to continue operating this Tacoma facility unless they are showing high profit to low overhead for positioning it for selling to possible Buyers !!! Which is exactly what is happening now in May, 2025 !!!
