My mom has been living in the Avita memory care section of Stonebridge since September 2023. I looked at 4-5 memory care facilities before deciding on Stonebridge. It was the most expensive of all that I looked at, but the staff and facility really impressed me. My mom’s room is lovely and has big windows that look out on a wooded area. They recently replaced the carpet in the hallways in Avita, which was much needed. The living room common area and dining area are getting a little worn looking but are clean and acceptable. Jim, the director of Avita, is great. He plays multiple instruments and is always entertaining the residents and doing sing alongs, which they love. He usually has an assistant who helps him with activities, but they lately seem to have trouble keeping the same person in that position. The rest of the aides there do a good job (some better than others) with helping care for the residents there. Memory care is difficult, and I appreciate the kindness and patience it takes to do such a job! My big negative with Stonebridge is the cost. When my mom moved in, her rent was $11,180 a month. They are raising prices effective this coming September for at least the THIRD time since she has moved in. As of this September, her rent will be $12,100 a month, almost $1000 more than 2 years ago when she moved in. We are fortunate that my mother has long term care insurance, but that will eventually run out, and I’m not sure we will be able to keep her at Stonebridge if they keep raising their rates as often as they have been.

"Bait and Switch". My experience started out very good. Prompt callback from Stonebridge, same day visit to see the facility, and there where two rooms available (one of which was newly renovated and furnished). I was told the cost would be $8995 per month for assisted living and that there would be a $5,000 assessment fee, but they would cut that in half now to $2,500. I agreed and went forward. They called back an hour later to tell me that the price given was incorrect, now its $9,325. I agreed to the higher price if they could honor that price for two years without any increases. They agreed to honor $9,325 BUT, now I would have to pay the FULL assessment fee of $5,000.I would say this experience has made the already tough decision even more difficult.

My wife’s parents are currently at StoneBridge at Burlington. Trying to find the perfect new home for them was difficult but dealing with the staff was amazing. John Merry and his team were very welcoming and professional, making the transition very smooth. We love all the staff and they really appear to love their jobs, resulting in very low turnover which makes it easier to manage any situation that arises.
