My mom has been at the Residence at Whitehall for a little over a month now, and all I can say is, She Absolutely Loves living there!! Everyone is so friendly. I have even met a few people and they all talk to me. My mom feels at Home and has even said, "I feel like I've lived here for years!" She has made so many friends already. And the Staff, very nice people, easy to talk to and always there if I have a question. Thank you Residence at Whitehall for welcoming my mom and making her move a great experience.

My mom has lived in both "Personal Care" (i.e. assisted living) and Independent Living here. The apartments are spacious. Most of the apartments on the first floor (independent living) even have patios. The hallways are bright and wide; in touring some other communities, this was not the case. They have a covered driveway in front of the main door which is nice when picking up or dropping off a resident in inclement weather. There is plenty of parking overall though you may have to walk if you don't get one of the spots on the main door side of the building. They have a sign-in/out system for residents and guests as well as call buttons on a necklace for residents, even in Independent Living. There are also emergency pull cords in the bathrooms. There are free laundry rooms on each of the 3 Independent Living floors; laundry is included in Personal Care. The main dining room is pretty large and serves 3 meals a day. There is a bistro that has snacks, cereal, and some leftovers. They have a "bar" area where they have Happy Hours on Friday afternoon. There's also a popcorn machine, a fresh fruit flavored water dispenser, and pool table on the main entrance level (which is actually the 2nd floor); it tends to be a hang out area for a lot of people. A lot of the staff have been working there for several years. They know the residents by name and take time to learn about them. My mom was an art teacher and after learning that, they added an art class as one of the activities. Speaking of activities, they offer several things daily. There is also a nice library on the 4th floor (Personal Care) that any resident can use. It has a TON of puzzles which is something my mom likes to do. There are about 100 residents between the 4 floors. The average age of the residents is probably 85 though there are a number of younger residents. Unlike at a lot of retirement communities, I feel like there are more men here than in many places but it is still primarily female residents. Overall, I have been very pleased with the Residence at Whitehall and trust that they will continue to take good care of my mother. I would recommend that if you are looking for a community for your loved one, you should definitely check them out. :)

My mom has lived at the Residence at Whitehall in both personal care (assisted living) and independent living. The accommodations are very nice with big apartments and the building is well appointed. The management is attentive. Front Desk staff is very friendly and helpful. The nursing staff up in personal care was tremendous. They plan some really nice special events. Lack of green space is a factor, but they do have a lovely back porch that has a nice sitting area and view. I think they do a very good job looking after my mom. It's clean, safe, and I think a nice place for her to be at this stage in her life.
