If I could give this place less than one star, I would do so. Most of the staff are good people, but the management team is sorely lacking in people skills. My mom is being bullied by other residents. They tell lies about her, walk away from activities when my mom arrives, make faces at her... All kindergarten and junior high "mean girl" activities. The industry has a term for it: mobbing. Other residents have told me they stay in their rooms because they don't want to get involved or be on the receiving end of that treatment. Yes. We can and probably will move her to another living situation. My dad died at this facility, so Mom has some emotional attachment. She had to move in with him after she suffered a stroke. At 86, it's not just a matter of filling up boxes and moving out . Just a heads up if you decide to move a loved one here.

Please think twice before placing your loved one here. Tom, the sales rep, may seem kind, but remember his job is to sell. Think of him like a used car salesman, except you are trusting him with your loved ones life. This is not the same place it was when it was Summit Estates. After Volante took over, the decline was fast and disturbing. My grandmother lived in memory care for 2.5 years. My grandfather and I were there daily because we had to help feed her and make sure she was safe, as the facility refused help with feeding and wanted us to pay an outside caregiver full time to feed her meals. Caregivers tried, but there were never enough of them. Management knew and did nothing. They kept raising rent while paying staff less than other facilities in town, leading to burnout and constant turnover. They received a “D” rating from the state, not for paperwork like they will try to tell you, but for safety concerns. They refused to post it until I filed multiple complaints. If it is not still a D, just know it was for over a year. And you can go ahead and look up what it takes to recieve a D grade in the state of Nevada. has nothing to do with “paperwork” To find it the grade, look left when you enter. It is hidden behind all the awards from the Summit Estates era. They cycled through three executive directors and four memory care directors in under three years. For six months, there was no one running the MC unit at all. Angela, the office manager, was the only consistent and competent person in leadership. She was the backbone of the entire administrative team and carried far more than her share. I found my grandmother sitting in dried feces for hours on end multiple times. She along with most others in that part of the facility were meant to be on two hour checks. We were there every day, I can’t imagine what happens to residents who have no visitors. I regularly showed up after 10 p.m. to find only one staff member in the entire building. They will deny this, but I saw it firsthand. I have days and times written down. Food quality plummeted. What they serve for what families pay is inexcusable. We moved my grandfather after my grandmother passed, and he is already much happier and healthier in a different facility. If you are on the fence about moving someone out, trust your gut. Keep records, report what you see, and please look at other options. And if you’re looking to move a loved one in, save the stress of you and them and just don’t. After everything we went through, I honestly question whether the good reviews are even real.

If you are reading this, you are most likely facing a difficult decisions. When it was our turn to make the decision we visited 3 different facilities. Volante was the clear choice for us and we still feel that way after 3 months. First impressions count even though you still need to ask good questions and make sure the places you are considering can provide the care your family member will need, both physically and mental health wise. Volante met all my Dad’s needs but also presented with the best first impression. The Sales Director, Tom Taylor, was by far the most professional. No hard sell “we only have 1 room left so you’ll need to make a decision soon.” I also observed how he and residents interacted and it was warm and friendly. That hasn’t changed from the day we toured to the present. The last thing I would mention is there is always going to be an adjustment period for the resident and the staff needing to learn the unique needs of each person. What matters most is how the staff responds. Volante has not disappointed.
