This place lacks human compassion. My first night of training I witnessed staff abusing and neglecting the residents. Staff sleeping on the clock and smelling like marijuana. These residents are in extreme danger and I have reported this facility to the Ohio Attorney General and Ohio Department of Health. A resident laid in their urine all night and then an aide shoved her head when rolling her over when I helped clean them up. Some of the nursing staff are hardened and should considered a career change. Was also trained to ignore and neglect a particular resident because she has “behaviors”. Behaviors is an over used and conveniently used term when the residents are not compliant. Elderly and confused people are still people. Please God protect them all.

If you put your loved one here just know all the blankets socks clothes wedding rings personal items will undoubtedly come up missing. Everyone wears others clothes and nothing comes back from the laundry!!! I don't care if items are marked with your loved ones name. Everything comes up missing! It smells so bad inside this place!

I recently had the opportunity to visit Wood Glen Alzheimer’s Nursing Home where my grandfather resided. I broke up the 3-star rating into two sections (facility and personnel). The facility has its pros and cons, leading me to give it a 1.5-star rating. Firstly, the front of the building feels quite small, and there isn’t much room for visitors to sit comfortably, which can be inconvenient. The wing my grandfather was placed in is exclusively for male residents, but unfortunately, it had a persistent odor that was quite unpleasant, reminiscent of urine and waste. This made the overall experience less than ideal. There is a sitting room where the men can watch TV, which is a nice touch. I noticed there was a courtyard area, although i didn’t go out there, it did seem it was utilized for outdoor activities. It great that residents can enjoy more time outside in a pleasant environment. As for my grandfather’s room, it’s a shared space with two beds and two nightstands. The setup is very minimal, which may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who appreciate a more personalized living space. Overall, the facility has an old nursing home vibe, lacking natural light and freshness. I cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional care and support my family received from the nurses and administration at Wood Glen Alzheimer’s Nursing Home during my grandfather's stay there that is this portion I rate it at a 5-star. The intake meeting was attended by the Head Nurse, Head Dietitian, Head Therapist, and Head Financial Officer, all of whom were incredibly receptive to our questions and concerns. Their willingness to listen and provide detailed information made a world of difference for our family. During our visits, particularly at lunchtime, the nursing staff in my grandfather's wing demonstrated remarkable dedication and professionalism. It was clear that things were hectic, but they managed to provide excellent care to all the men in the unit. I noticed that despite the apparent busyness, the nurses were attentive and made sure we felt comfortable during our visits. While I only saw four nurses during our time there, it was evident that they were working tirelessly to meet the needs of the residents. I suspect the wing may be understaffed, as the nurses were consistently on the move, ensuring everything was handled efficiently. Their hard work did not go unnoticed, and I truly appreciate their commitment. One standout member of the team was Mindy, the Head Facility Nurse. After my visits, she graciously provided me with her personal number, encouraging me to reach out anytime with questions. Her follow-up after my grandfather’s passing demonstrated her genuine care; she checked in on me and my family to see how I was doing, which meant a lot during such a difficult time. Mindy's exceptional support and dedication were the primary reasons for my high rating. She exemplifies the compassionate and professional care that Wood Glen strives to provide. I wholeheartedly recommend this facility for anyone seeking quality care for their loved ones. Thank you to the entire team at Wood Glen for your outstanding service! In conclusion, while Wood Glen has some basic amenities and an amazing caring staff, improvements in cleanliness, space, and overall atmosphere would greatly enhance the experience for both residents and their families.
